Remember last year? When we all thought we were rich and none of us could really figure out how the hell we all got so rich? Good times.
Well, with those days behind us and with the economy in a crisis of global proportions, most financial sectors are seeing a decline. Remember the manufacturing industry? Gone. Unless you're in China and you like a little lead mixed in with your baby formula. Remember when America made cars? Not for long, you won't. I mean, even the porn industry is taking a hit. Even strippers are finding fewer singles tucked inside their g-strings at the end of any given night.
I'm no economist but I when I see the market do what it does and the banks are on the brink and no one's buying anything, I can't help but wonder: What in the world is going to happen to the world of poker? Are people going to want to gamble with their money when they're so scared about losing it? Will advertisers be buying ad time for televised competitions? If not, how will the next generation fall in love with poker? Where's our federal bailout??
All that being said, let's talk about EPT Monte Carlo. This year, a total of 935 players entered. That's almost a hundred more than last year... Remember last year? When we were all ballers and there were Escalades oozing gasoline as far as the eye could see? I don't love our new financial climate. But I do love that poker keeps on keeping on.
