Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier Wins the PCA High Roller Event
The $25,000 PCA High Rollers Event attracted a field packed with the top poker players in the world. Bertrand Grospellier took down forty-eight of them who began the tournament.  Making the final table a success of its own, after competing his way through a tournament that featured Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Chris Ferguson, internet superstars Shaun Deeb, Sorel Mizzi, Isaac Baron and many other top names.
The final eight began play today at 2 p.m. as the EPT Live cameras filmed every hand. This is how the start of the final table looked :
Seat 1: Humberto Brenes -- 423,500
Seat 2: Scott Seiver -- 449,500
Seat 3: Nick Schulman -- 99,500
Seat 4: Liya Gerasimova -- 259,000
Seat 5: Daniel Alaei -- 209,500
Seat 6: Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier -- 358,000
Seat 7: Will Molson -- 270,500
Seat 8: Eli Elezra -- 355,500
Grospellier was chip leader before long when he hit trip 10s on the river to win a pot against Eli Elezra. He eliminated his first victim at the final table when he held pocket 10s against the A J of Nick Schulman about an hour into the final table. The board delivered nothing for Shulmanand he was eliminated in eighth place and winnings of $45,700.00.
Alaei out of the tournament in seventh place with winnings of 57k by Liya Gersimova, girlfriend of Ivan Demidov.
The next hand, the largest hand of the final table was when the two Team PokerStars Pros at the table decided to clash. Grospellier and Humberto Brenes saw a flop of Q 10 2 and Brenes bet 25,000. ElkY called and the turn fell 4. Brenes bet 60,000 and ElkY raised to 188,000. Brenes announced the all in call. Grospellier called and turned up pocket 10's, while Brenes showed down pocket twos. The river brought the 8 and Brenes was crippled. ElkY was the first to hit a million dollars in the tournament.
Elezra was forced to go all short stacked with pocket fives a while later. Gersimov had pocket queens behind him and she knocked Elezra out in sixth place with $68,500.00 claiming her second knockout at the final table.
Brenes came fifth after being found short stacked after a devastating hand where he lost to ElkY. His final hand was K 4, but he was dominated by the K 10 Scott Seiver. The board flopped 4 3 2 to give Brenes hope, but it finished with runner-runner hearts (7 3) to knock him out with $70,800.00 prize money.
Will Molson then doubled up to kick off post break play, but Seiver scored his second knockout next to steal the Canadian's momentum. Seiver woke up with pocket aces, Gerasimova made an all-in move holding 8h6h. Needless to say she was eliminated in fourth place with $91,300.00.
Seiver was the next to go when he open shoved with 10-9 and ElkY called him down with A-8. The turn brought an ace and Seiver was gone in a third-place finish worth $137,000.00.
Molson held 331,000 to ElkY's 2 million when heads up began, and the match was quickly finished. The first hand between the final two Molson open shoved with K 10 and Grospellier called with A J. The board rolled out Q 6 2 A 6 and Molson was the second place finisher with $228,000.00.
Grospellier was the last player standing making him a back to back winner, winning a major poker tournament title for the second year running in the Bahamas. He now holds $4,681,839.00 in career tournament winnings after the $433,500.00 win.
